Beginner Semiclassical 3 month series

• Warmup
• Teaching concepts & technique(hand movements, basic footwork, postures, expressions, story-telling, grace) + feedback
• Teach choreography implementing what we've learned(from month 2)
• Review
• Cool down

Each class will be recorded at the end and will be shared with the dancers Homework exercises will also be given each class. You will receive a feedback report at the end of the month to keep track of your progress :)

Students are expected to be committed towards their progress. Please be consistent with your attendance but it you're not able to make it(it's ok! life happens), just let me know prior and revise the class recording by next time. You are allowed to miss up to 3 classes through within the 3 months.

If a class is cancelled, I will make sure it is made up/creditedIf you miss a class, you will need to catch up with the recording before the next class.If you are going to be absent for a extended period of time, let me know and we can figure it out :)

 

Please wear a kurti with leggings/salwar. A dupatta is optional.

Bring a notebook+pen to take notes.

 

Please note that classes are "student based", meaning I'll teach according to the students' performance, NOT just what I want to do. If there's something you are struggling on, we'll keep working on it. Classes are for you and I'll make sure of that :) I expect you to practice sufficiently before each class too so that you can build on your skills.

This a 3 month course that will be progressional. Basics will be taught every class but in the first 4-5 classes, it will only be this. Starting in the 2nd month, we will begin learning choreography along with continued practice.
 

You will understand basic foundational technique and gain more awareness about Indian dance+ music. With regular classes, you will become more confident in attempting semiclassical choreography. I'm super excited to teach these and can't wait to see you blossom into beautiful semiclassical dancers.

 

***Please note this is NOT a Bharatanatyam/Kathak/ pure classical dance class. If you are interested in this, please let me know and I will suggest other teachers :)
